Cause

Most of them are due to the lack of trace elements, or they accidentally eat stones, wooden blocks, rubber balls, thread gloves, rags and other foreign objects during playing and training. Or it may be secondary to an addiction caused by certain infectious diseases.

Diagnosis points

Sick dogs mainly present symptoms of acute or chronic gastritis. Long-term digestive disorders. When a foreign body is blocked in the pylorus, the symptoms are more serious, with intractable vomiting, complete refusal to eat, high thirsty, and frequent changes in the lying place and position. Shows pain and restlessness, moans, and even howls. Sometimes accompanied by cramps and ringworm bite, the dog is highly depressed. Pain in the stomach on palpation. Sharp foreign bodies may damage the gastric mucosa and cause hematemesis or perforation of the stomach.

It is easy to confirm the diagnosis based on medical history, clinical manifestations and X-ray examination.

Prevention

First, when encountering a large number of large foreign objects. A gastrotomy can be used to remove the foreign body. For small and small foreign bodies, try subcutaneous injection of apomorphine to promote vomiting, or take it out with a gastroscope. You can also try methyl cellulose, take 1 teaspoon each time, 3 times a day.

Second, provide timely replenishment of corresponding trace elements to dogs with unusual addictions, and pay attention to prevent dogs from eating by mistake when training and playing.
