Dog Medical Diseases – Pharyngitis
It is mostly caused by hard food, sharp foreign objects, chemical drugs, or hot and cold stimulation. Also secondary to certain infectious diseases.
The head and neck of the sick dog are stretched and unwilling to move. When they touch the pharynx, the sick dog dodges, stretches the neck and shakes the head, and coughs. Dysphagia and salivation are characteristic of this disease. Sick dogs have difficulty swallowing food, or spit out food lumps. A lot of viscous saliva often accumulates in the mouth. It flows out like a strand, or flows out in large amounts when it opens. Sick dogs lose weight quickly due to dysphagia and reduced food intake. Secondary pharyngitis, systemic symptoms are obvious. The diagnosis can be made based on the medical history and clinical symptoms.
(1) Strengthen nursing. Place the sick dog in a warm, dry, well-ventilated kennel, give it liquid food, and drink frequently. If you are severely ill and cannot eat, you should stop feeding. You can inject 10% to 25% glucose solution intravenously, or give an enema to supplement nutrition.
(2) Eliminate inflammation In order to promote the absorption of inflammatory exudate, warm water or white wine can be applied to the pharynx for 20 to 30 minutes each time. 2 to 3 times a day. Or use 10% camphor alcohol on the pharynx , or use compound lead acetate powder. Severe cases should be combined with systemic therapy, injection of antibiotics or sulfa drugs.
