Dog Medical Diseases – Pneumonia

First, due to colds, air pollution, poor ventilation, overwork, and vitamin deficiency, the respiratory tract and body resistance are reduced. Microorganisms (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, mold, etc.) that originally parasitized in or outside the respiratory tract in a non-pathogenic state take the opportunity to develop and reproduce, enhance their virulence, and cause animal infections.

Second, inhaling irritating gases, soot, and swallowing foreign objects into the lungs.

Third, secondary to certain diseases, such as bronchitis, influenza, canine distemper or parasites, such as lung fluke, toxoplasma gondii, roundworm larvae and so on.

Diagnosis points

Sick dogs have obvious systemic symptoms, depression, loss of appetite, flushing or bluish-purple conjunctiva, increased pulse rate, superficial and rapid breathing, and even difficulty breathing. Body temperature rises, but sometimes high and sometimes low, showing relaxation fever. Sick dogs have runny nose and cough. On chest auscultation, crepitus can be heard, and there are small dull areas (usually in the lower triangle of the front of the lung) on chest percussion. Usually based on medical history and clinical symptoms, diagnosis is not difficult.

(1) Anti-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory antibiotics are commonly used. Such as penicillin, streptomycin, tetracycline, oxytetracycline, erythromycin, kanamycin and gentamicin. If combined with sulfa drugs, the efficacy can be improved.

(2) Expectorant and relieve cough For frequent coughing. When the secretion is thick and it is difficult to cough up, a soluble expectorant can be used, such as ammonium chloride 0.2 to 1 g/time. Spray the throat and upper respiratory tract with 10%-20% Tanyijing (Yikejing) solution. The general dosage is 2 to 5 ml/time, 2 to 3 times a day. Benzylcyclohexylammonium bromide, the dosage is 6-15 mg/time, 3 times a day. Medication can be used for 4-6 days in general cases, and continuous medication should be used in severe and chronic cases. In addition, Polygala tincture (10-15 ml/time), Platycodon grandiflorum tincture (10-15 ml/time), Platycodon grandiflorum extract (5-15 ml/time), etc. can also be used.

(3) To stop exudation and promote the absorption of inflammatory exudate, you can inject 10% calcium gluconate intravenously, or take 2~3 ml of 10% sodium salicylate, 10~20 ml of 10% sodium salicylate, and 40% urethane. Tropine 3-5 ml, mixed and injected intravenously.

(4) Symptomatic treatment is mainly to strengthen the heart and relieve dyspnea. To prevent autologous poisoning, 5% sodium bicarbonate injection can be used.

(5) Improve the body’s resistance to strengthen daily exercise, improve the body’s ability to resist diseases. Avoid the stimulation of mechanical and chemical factors, protect the natural defense function of the respiratory tract, and treat the primary disease in time
