Cause
Dogs are prone to food poisoning if they eat foods such as spoiled, rotten meat, fish and yogurt. In spoiled and rotten food, there are often many kinds of bacteria that are contaminated, such as Staphylococcus, Salmonella, Clostridium botulinum, etc., especially the former two bacteria are the most common.
Diagnosis points
Staphylococcal toxin poisoning can cause severe vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and symptoms of acute gastroenteritis. The sick dog is depressed, has heart failure, and has a normal or slightly lower body temperature. When the poisoning is severe, it can cause convulsions, restlessness , difficulty breathing and severe convulsions.
According to the antecedents of feeding spoiled food. Combined with clinical symptoms, a diagnosis can be made.
Treatment
The emetic agent apomorphine can be injected intravenously at the initial stage of onset, and its dosage is 0.04 mg/kg body weight. If necessary, perform gastric lavage, fluid replacement and appropriate symptomatic treatment. At the same time, the poisoned dog was given starvation therapy and the feeding was stopped.
